The CQ region represents the local government areas of Banana, Central Highlands, Gladstone, Livingstone, Rockhampton and Woorabinda.

The region has many communities, assets and responsibilities which include:

30 x water treatment plants (including 6 x disinfection only plants)
37 x urban communities serviced
90,325 x water connections
80,576 x sewer connections

The CQWSTG mission is to advance drinking water and sewerage services across the region by creating efficiencies through joint procurement, promoting opportunities to stimulate collaboration and supporting council work teams.

The 2026 Chairs and Coordinators Forum brought together representatives from all nine QWRAP regions along with valued program partners from qldwater, the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV) and the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ).
