On Tuesday, 18 August 2026, qldwater hosted the annual QWRAP Chairs & Coordinators Forum, bringing together representatives from all nine QWRAP regions, along with valued program partners from the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers (DLGWV) and the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ).
The Department’s ongoing support of the forum continues to play a vital role in strengthening regional collaboration across Queensland, enabling alliance representatives to come together to share knowledge, showcase achievements and explore opportunities.
The forum highlighted the breadth of innovation and collaboration occurring across the state, with regional updates demonstrating the positive impact of a diverse range of projects and initiatives being delivered through QWRAP. These successes reflect the commitment of local government water and sewerage professionals and the strength of the partnership that underpin the program.

A key theme emerging from the day was the enduring value of the relationships fostered through QWRAP. By connecting practitioners, facilitating the exchange of ideas and supporting peer-to-peer learning, the program continues to build capability across the sector and contribute to resilient, sustainable regional communities.
We thank all participants for sharing their experiences, insights and valuable perspectives. QWRAP remains an important foundation for collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
The forum once again demonstrated the power of partnership and the significant benefits that can be achieved when councils, industry and government work together to support Queensland’s regional water sector.
