The Wide Bay Burnett Urban Water Alliance (WBBUWA) has reached a significant milestone in regional water management with the successful update of its Design and Construction Code.
Formerly known as the WBBROC D&C Code, the newly revised WBBUWA Design and Construction Code represents a major step forward in enhancing collaboration, consistency, and efficiency across the region.
The updated Code aligns WBBUWA with other regional standards such as the SEQ and Cairns-Townsville-Mackay (CTM) Codes, ensuring a more seamless and unified approach to water and sewerage infrastructure. This alignment not only simplifies processes for councils and developers but also addresses key issues identified during the implementation of the previous Code.
The WBBUWA D&C Code delivers wide-ranging benefits for Councils, developers and communities including:
- Standardised inventory and processes across member councils
- Improved asset selection and installation, leading to longer-lasting, easier-to-operate infrastructure
- Enhanced customer protection through consistent design standards
- Reduced costs via joint procurement and shared resources
- Streamlined engagement with developers and suppliers across the region
By defining preferred assets and designs, the Code helps safeguard customer investments and uphold the reputations of participating councils.
